Overcoming Fears and Phobias-Video

Everyday Zen Moments…April 1, 2012

Eliminating that Dark Space in Your Mind Where Fears Grow and Fester

About 19.2 million American adults ages 18 and over, or some 8.7 percent of people in this age group in a given year, have some type of specific phobia, or extreme fear.

How many of us are trapped by fears and phobias? A PHOBIA IS DIFFERENT IT TAKES A FEAR AND TURNS IT INTO A PRISON SENTENCE. I know it was for me, until I learned how to unlock the prison door and escape.

Many of us have fears that our minds have created without our consent. We get nervous and anxious about things like:

  • Spiders…ARACHNOPHOBIA
  • Flying …AEROPHOBIA
  • Heights, ACROPHOBIA
  • Germs, MYSOPHOBIA
  • Ablutophobia: Fear of washing or bathing.
  • Peladophobia: Fear of bald people
  • Macrophobia: fear of long waits
  • and of course, my phobia, public speaking or GLOSSOPHOBIA

Fear is a beast that we feed with our attention. The first step is learning how to control our attention and our thoughts so we can actually do what we fear. Click on the link below to watch my video on A Zen Secret for Overcoming Your Fears and Phobias:

You can also download one of my books in PDF format for FREE from my site above or go to Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com for a Kindle, Nook, or Hardcover version. The short version of the technique appears on page 49-56 in Where’s My Zen? and a full detailed version appears on pages 386-430 in The Ten Paradoxes: The Science of Where’s My Zen?

” The patterns of behavior you exhibit have been learned and acquired through experience and genetics. The “I” has adapted itself to fit the needs and requirements of the world, family and social values, genetic traits, professional goals, educational expectations, and so on. The world according to “I” is the world created by the “I” through the brain’s filter. Most important, this world created by the “I” is not the real world.“
